, solidement bâti sur le rocher, surplombant toute la ville, on le voit de toute part comme un point de repère incontournable.
D’abord tout en bois élevé en 1185 pour affirmer le pouvoir de Raymond VI, Comte de Toulouse et seigneur du Comtat Venaissin, il se transformera courant le XIIIe siècle en bâtiment fortifié composé de trois corps de bâtiments et d’un donjon carré entourant une cour intérieure.
En 1274, il deviendra possession pontificale et ce, jusqu’en 1791. De son parvis, magnifique panorama à découvrir sur Vaison.
The count’s castle
, solidly built on the rock, overlooking the whole town, it is an outstanding landmark which can be seen from all around.
Originally a wooden tower built in 1185 to demonstrate the power of Raymond VI, Count of Toulouse and Lord of the County of Venaissin, it was transformed during the 13th century into a fortified building composed of three blocks and a square keep with an interior courtyard.
In 1274 it fell into Papal possession until 1791. From the grounds in front of the castle you have a magnificent view of Vaison.
